FAQ

Frequently asked questions about The Table Retreat!

Do you cater to specific diets?

Our cooks are excellent and regularly accommodate gluten and dairy allergies as well as vegan diets. If you have other diet restrictions, let us know and we will do our best to work with you just as we have worked with others on past retreats.

Can I see a schedule for the retreat?

Yes you can! Click here to see a sample retreat schedule.

Who is eligible to attend one of your retreats?

Our retreats are for married couples, where at least one is engaged in some form of vocational Christian ministry (e g. pastors, missionaries, chaplains, ministry leaders, Christian non-profits, etc). If you are mot sure if you are eligible, please reach out to us.

What type of retreats do you offer?

All of our retreats are for married couples, and share the twin focus of “marriage and ministry.” However, specialized groups are encouraged. We have led marriage and ministry retreats for church staff, pastors of the same denomination, pastors from the same region, female pastors and their husbands, covenant groups, missionaries from the same organization, ministry teams, and justice-ministry leaders.

How many couples will be on a retreat?

Most of our retreats have 4-5 guest couples. We can accommodate a maximum of 6 couples

Will we have our own bathroom?

Yes! Except in the rare circumstance of a retreat with 6 couples. Our house has space for up to 6 couples, 5 of the rooms are ensuite, and rooms 6 and 7 share a bathroom.

What kind of things are there to do in the area?

SO MUCH! Sunriver is an outdoor playground - hiking river trails or mountain lakes, kayaking or paddle boarding along the Deschutes or Spring Rivers, renting mountain bikes or borrowing a ‘cruizer’ to explore Sunriver’s many paved and dirt trails…. Grab a pint or a coffee in Sunriver’s village or downtown Bend…. There are also beautiful walking trails in our neighborhood, a bench or swing by the river, horseshoes, bocci, puzzles, hammocks, foosball, pool ….

Can I bring a group?

Yes! If you have a group you’d like to bring, reach out to us and we can work with you to schedule a retreat specifically for your group. (If your group is larger than 6 couples, there is a house next door you may be able to rent. Again, reach out to us and we can explore options.) Just remember our focus is on ministry and marriage not one or the other

Do you offer scholarships?

Our basic registration fee of $500 is already heavily subsidized, so everyone starts out on scholarship. For those who are able and willing, we invite them to cover the actual cost of $1200/couple. We have pre-written a letter to church sessions asking them to cover these costs for their pastors. You can access that letter here

Do you have a faith statement?

We affirm with Christians across the ages and throughout the world the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed as our faith statements.

Do you ever do Table Retreats in other locations?

We call this “Table on the road” and yes, we would love to bring the Table Retreats to you! We can provide the programming if you have a suitable location, accommodations, and catering. Again, reach out to us to discuss possibilities.

Can I get a refund if our plans change?

We will provide a 100% refund for cancellations up until 30 days before a retreat. Inside 30 days, the $250 deposit is not refundable because of the difficulty of filling a vacant spot at such a late date (and the loss of related expenses).

Can I talk to someone if I have more questions?

Yes, if your question is not answered here, you can call Charlene at (541) 259-4411. Or feel free to send an email to tableretreats@gmail.com
